Course Introduction

Community Data Collection and Evidence-Based Planning is a critical competency for modern development practice, enabling organizations and practitioners to make informed decisions grounded in reliable community-generated data. This course equips participants with practical skills to collect, analyze, and apply data for effective planning and programming.

The course emphasizes the importance of using evidence in community development decision-making processes. Participants will learn how accurate, timely, and relevant data can significantly improve the design, targeting, and effectiveness of development interventions across diverse community settings.

A strong focus is placed on data collection methodologies, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Participants will be exposed to participatory tools, surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and digital data collection methods that ensure comprehensive community insights.

The training also explores data management, analysis, and interpretation techniques. Participants will learn how to organize raw data into meaningful information that can guide planning, resource allocation, and policy development at community and institutional levels.

Modern technologies such as mobile data collection tools, GIS systems, and real-time dashboards are integrated into the course. This ensures participants are equipped to work in increasingly digitalized development environments where data-driven decision-making is essential.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and implement community data collection systems and apply evidence-based planning approaches that enhance efficiency, accountability, and impact in development programs.
