Introduction

The Cold Chain and Perishable Goods Logistics Course is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of cold chain systems and the logistics strategies required to manage temperature-sensitive products. This course explores the latest technologies, standards, and best practices in ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance throughout the supply chain.

Participants will examine the key components of cold chain logistics, including temperature-controlled storage, refrigerated transportation, real-time monitoring, and risk mitigation strategies. The course highlights how technological innovation such as IoT sensors, blockchain, and data analytics is transforming cold chain visibility and efficiency. Learners will also assess the roles of infrastructure, packaging, and handling in maintaining the integrity of perishable products.

A strong emphasis is placed on regulatory compliance and international standards, such as Good Distribution Practices (GDP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and WHO guidelines. The course covers critical issues such as product shelf-life, spoilage risks, cold chain failures, and cost-efficiency in cold chain management. Real-world case studies from food and pharmaceutical logistics will be used to illustrate both challenges and proven solutions.

Environmental sustainability and emerging trends are also integrated into the curriculum, addressing the carbon footprint of cold chains, use of eco-friendly refrigerants, and energy-efficient storage and transport solutions. The course explores the balance between operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility key concerns in modern cold chain systems.

Ideal for logistics professionals, supply chain managers, food safety officers, pharmaceutical distributors, and development practitioners, this course equips participants with actionable skills to manage cold chain operations, troubleshoot logistical challenges, and ensure the safe and timely delivery of perishable goods across diverse contexts.

Duration

5 days
