Course Introduction

Climate change poses escalating risks to global food systems, affecting production, supply chains, and vulnerable populations. This course equips participants with practical and strategic tools to manage food systems programs resilient to climate variability. It emphasizes planning, monitoring, and evaluating interventions for sustainable outcomes.

Participants will learn to integrate climate, agricultural, and socioeconomic data to design, implement, and assess programs. Emphasis is placed on strategic decision-making, resource optimization, and the economic and social impacts of climate-resilient interventions across multiple food system levels.

The course emphasizes a results-oriented approach to program management, linking evidence-based planning with practical implementation. Participants will gain skills in risk assessment, budgeting, stakeholder coordination, and adaptive management to strengthen the resilience of food systems.

Special attention is given to emerging trends and technologies, including climate-smart agriculture, digital tools, early warning systems, and innovative financing mechanisms. Learners will explore how these tools enhance program effectiveness and support sustainable adaptation strategies.

A key component is governance and policy alignment. Participants will understand regulatory, institutional, and stakeholder frameworks that impact program delivery, enabling them to design initiatives that are compliant, inclusive, and scalable across regions.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to lead climate-resilient food systems programs, applying monitoring, evaluation, and learning principles, economic analysis, and stakeholder engagement to achieve lasting social and environmental impact.
