Course Introduction

Climate change poses unprecedented challenges to agricultural productivity and food security. The Climate Resilient Agricultural Technologies Course is designed to equip participants with practical skills and knowledge to adopt and implement innovative technologies that enhance resilience and sustainability in farming systems.

Participants will explore how climate variability, extreme weather, and resource constraints impact crop yields, soil health, and livestock productivity. The course emphasizes understanding these risks and identifying appropriate technological interventions to mitigate them effectively.

A major focus is on climate-smart agricultural practices and resilient technologies, including drought-tolerant crops, precision agriculture, water-efficient irrigation, and integrated pest management. Participants will gain hands-on knowledge on how these solutions improve productivity while reducing environmental impacts.

The course integrates modern digital and mechanized solutions, such as sensors, remote monitoring, and data-driven decision-making tools, to optimize resource use and enhance adaptive capacity. Learners will understand how technology accelerates sustainable agricultural development under climate pressures.

Participants will also examine the socio-economic and institutional factors that influence technology adoption, including access to credit, extension services, and policy support. The course stresses inclusive approaches that benefit smallholder farmers, women, and vulnerable groups.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to assess, design, and implement climate-resilient technologies in diverse agricultural contexts, enabling improved productivity, sustainability, and adaptation to climate change across the food system.
