Course Introduction

Climate change and weather variability significantly impact agriculture, influencing crop productivity, food security, and livelihoods. This course equips participants with knowledge and skills to access, interpret, and apply climate information services for informed agricultural decision-making.

Participants will learn how to integrate climate data, forecasts, and early warning systems into farm planning, risk management, and strategic agricultural interventions, ensuring resilience under uncertain climatic conditions.

The course emphasizes the use of modern technologies, including satellite data, remote sensing, weather modeling, and digital climate platforms, to provide accurate and timely climate information for farming communities.

Through practical exercises, case studies, and scenario analyses, learners will explore how climate information services support crop selection, irrigation scheduling, pest management, and market planning, improving productivity and reducing losses.

Participants will also gain insight into institutional frameworks, policy considerations, and multi-stakeholder collaboration necessary to strengthen climate-informed agricultural planning and decision-making at local, regional, and national levels.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to translate climate information into actionable strategies, build capacity among farmers and stakeholders, and contribute to resilient, sustainable, and climate-smart agricultural systems.
