Introduction
Climate change has fundamentally reshaped how financial systems allocate capital, manage risk, and measure performance. Climate finance accounting and carbon accounting now play a critical role in tracking climate-related investments, emissions, and financial flows that support mitigation and adaptation goals across public and private sectors.
This course provides participants with a rigorous understanding of how climate finance is accounted for, monitored, and reported within organizational and national systems. It explores the intersection between financial accounting, climate policy, and environmental economics in the context of global climate commitments.
Carbon accounting is examined as a core mechanism for measuring greenhouse gas emissions, tracking reductions, and supporting carbon markets. Participants will learn how emissions data translates into financial values, liabilities, assets, and performance indicators for informed decision-making.
The training integrates global standards and frameworks such as the Paris Agreement, GHG Protocol, TCFD, ISSB, and voluntary carbon market methodologies. Emphasis is placed on consistency, transparency, and credibility in climate-related financial disclosures and emissions reporting.
Through applied case studies and practical exercises, participants will assess climate finance flows, carbon credits, offsets, and climate-related risks. The course bridges theory and practice to support effective planning, reporting, and accountability in climate-funded programs and projects.
Designed for professionals engaged in climate action, finance, and sustainability, this course equips participants with the skills needed to design robust climate finance accounting systems and credible carbon accounting frameworks that support resilience, compliance, and sustainable investment outcomes.
