Course Introduction

The Climate Change Strategic Foresight and Future Scenario Planning Course is designed to equip professionals with advanced capabilities in anticipating, analyzing, and preparing for future climate risks and opportunities. It focuses on strategic foresight methodologies that help organizations and governments navigate uncertainty and design resilient long-term climate strategies.

This course explores how scenario planning, systems thinking, and futures analysis can be applied to climate change challenges. Participants will learn how to construct plausible future scenarios that reflect environmental, technological, economic, and geopolitical uncertainties shaping global climate outcomes.

A core focus of the program is enhancing decision-making under uncertainty. Learners will understand how foresight tools such as horizon scanning, trend analysis, and wildcard mapping can be used to identify emerging risks and opportunities in climate systems before they fully materialize.

The training also emphasizes the integration of climate foresight into policy planning, corporate strategy, and sustainability frameworks. Participants will explore how governments, businesses, and institutions use scenario-based planning to stress-test strategies and improve resilience against climate shocks and disruptions.

In addition, the course highlights emerging global trends such as climate tipping points, technological disruption, energy transitions, and socio-economic transformation. These insights enable participants to develop adaptive strategies that remain relevant under multiple future conditions.

Ultimately, this course prepares participants to become strategic foresight practitioners capable of shaping future-ready climate policies and organizational strategies. It strengthens the ability to think long-term, anticipate change, and design adaptive responses to an uncertain climate future.
