Course Introduction

Climate change poses unprecedented challenges to food systems, affecting production, distribution, and nutrition security. This course equips participants with knowledge and skills to develop, implement, and evaluate policies that strengthen food system governance under changing climatic conditions.

Participants will explore how policy frameworks at national, regional, and international levels shape food system resilience, addressing both mitigation and adaptation strategies while integrating stakeholder engagement and accountability mechanisms.

The course emphasizes linking climate change science, socio-economic analysis, and governance structures to guide effective decision-making and resource allocation for sustainable food systems.

Through case studies and scenario analysis, learners will examine policy instruments, regulatory frameworks, and institutional arrangements that enhance the responsiveness, equity, and efficiency of food systems.

Participants will gain practical skills in policy formulation, advocacy, monitoring, and evaluation, enabling them to lead initiatives that enhance governance, reduce vulnerabilities, and promote climate-resilient food security.

By the end of the course, learners will be capable of designing actionable governance strategies, influencing policy reform, and fostering collaborative approaches that strengthen food system resilience against climate risks.
