Course Introduction

Climate change is increasing the complexity and frequency of risks faced by governments, organizations, and communities. Integrated risk analysis helps combine environmental, social, and economic risks into one clear framework. This course provides practical knowledge on how to assess and manage these interconnected risks effectively.

Traditional risk management approaches often treat risks separately, which leads to incomplete understanding and weak planning outcomes. This course explains how integrated risk analysis brings together multiple risk factors, helping decision-makers understand the full picture and make stronger, evidence-based decisions.

Participants will learn how to identify, measure, and prioritize climate-related risks using structured tools and frameworks. These include scenario analysis, risk mapping, vulnerability assessment, and impact forecasting methods that support better planning and decision-making.

The course also focuses on how integrated risk analysis is used in real planning processes across sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, water, energy, and urban development. It highlights how risk-informed planning improves resilience and reduces long-term costs.

Participants will explore modern tools and digital systems used in risk analysis, including data modeling, GIS mapping, and predictive analytics. These tools help visualize risks and support clearer communication for policymakers and stakeholders.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to conduct integrated risk analysis and apply it in planning processes. They will gain practical skills to design risk-informed strategies that improve resilience and sustainability.
