Course Introduction

Climate change poses profound challenges to global nutrition security, affecting food availability, quality, and accessibility. This course equips participants with the knowledge and tools to assess, monitor, and mitigate nutrition-related risks linked to changing climatic conditions.

Participants will explore the complex interactions between climate variability, agricultural production, and nutritional outcomes, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to safeguard vulnerable populations from food insecurity.

The course emphasizes methodologies for risk assessment, including data collection, modeling, and scenario analysis, enabling learners to predict and respond to nutrition security threats effectively.

Through interdisciplinary case studies, participants will examine the socio-economic and health impacts of climate-induced food system disruptions and develop strategies to improve resilience and adaptive capacity.

Practical applications are integrated throughout, including the design of early warning systems, nutrition-sensitive interventions, and policy frameworks that address both short-term and long-term climate-nutrition challenges.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to combine scientific knowledge, analytical tools, and community-based strategies to mitigate nutrition insecurity risks and contribute to sustainable food and health systems.
