Course Introduction

Climate change is increasingly disrupting global food systems, threatening agricultural productivity, supply chain stability, and community livelihoods. This course equips participants with practical planning tools to anticipate, manage, and mitigate climate-related risks in food security and agriculture.

Participants will explore the intersections of climate science, agricultural production, and socio-economic factors affecting food systems. Through evidence-based strategies, learners gain the skills needed to assess vulnerabilities, forecast potential disruptions, and develop actionable adaptation plans.

The program emphasizes the use of planning tools such as climate risk mapping, scenario analysis, and predictive modeling to enable informed decision-making. Learners will acquire methodologies that integrate environmental, social, and economic dimensions of food security.

Through case studies, simulations, and applied exercises, participants will understand how to implement practical solutions that enhance agricultural resilience. The course blends technical knowledge with policy and strategic frameworks for addressing climate-related food insecurity.

Emerging trends, including digital agriculture, early warning systems, climate-smart practices, and adaptive supply chain strategies, are explored throughout. Participants will learn to leverage these tools for planning and decision-making in both local and global contexts.

By the end of the course, learners will be capable of designing comprehensive climate-informed food security strategies. They will gain the knowledge to guide policy, support community adaptation, and strengthen the resilience of food systems against future climate shocks.
