Course Introduction

Climate change is increasingly affecting agricultural productivity, causing shifts in crop yields, soil fertility, and pest dynamics. This course equips participants with analytical tools and methods to assess, monitor, and optimize agricultural productivity under changing climatic conditions.

Participants will learn to integrate climate data, soil analysis, and crop performance indicators to make evidence-based decisions that enhance food security, reduce risks, and improve farm-level and regional productivity outcomes.

The course emphasizes the use of advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, data visualization, and GIS tools, to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities in agricultural systems for climate-smart interventions.

Through real-world case studies and practical exercises, learners will understand how to evaluate crop performance under stress conditions, quantify productivity losses, and design adaptive strategies tailored to local and regional contexts.

Participants will also explore policy frameworks, institutional mechanisms, and financial incentives that support climate-smart agriculture. Emphasis will be on translating analytical insights into actionable recommendations for farmers, extension agents, and policy makers.

By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to apply climate and agricultural analytics to optimize productivity, enhance resilience, and support sustainable decision-making in agricultural landscapes affected by climate change.
