Introduction

Climate change poses significant and growing challenges to ecosystems, livelihoods, infrastructure, and communities around the world. As environmental conditions become more unpredictable, there is an urgent need for practical strategies that strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability. This course on Climate Change Adaptation in a Changing Environment equips participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand climate risks and to develop effective adaptation responses at local, national, and regional levels.

Through a blend of theoretical insights, real-world case studies, and interactive sessions, the course explores key concepts such as climate risk assessment, community-based adaptation, ecosystem-based approaches, policy integration, and climate-resilient development planning. Participants will examine the latest scientific findings on climate change and learn how to apply them in designing inclusive and sustainable adaptation strategies.

The training also emphasizes the importance of cross-sectoral coordination, stakeholder engagement, and the use of both indigenous knowledge and modern technologies in building adaptive capacity. By addressing social, economic, and environmental dimensions, the course fosters a holistic understanding of adaptation in dynamic and diverse contexts.

By the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to lead or support adaptation efforts that protect vulnerable populations, enhance ecosystem resilience, and promote sustainable development in the face of an evolving climate landscape.
