Course Introduction

The CHS, Core Humanitarian Standards and Programme Accountability Training Course is a specialized professional development programme designed to strengthen the capacity of humanitarian and development practitioners to design, implement, and manage accountable, high-quality, and people-centered interventions. It focuses on embedding accountability principles across all stages of humanitarian response and development programming.

The course provides a comprehensive understanding of the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), including commitments related to effectiveness, efficiency, participation, accountability, and continuous learning. Participants will explore how these standards guide ethical and impactful humanitarian action in complex and crisis-affected environments.

It further equips professionals with practical tools for designing and implementing accountability frameworks that ensure transparency, community engagement, and feedback mechanisms. Emphasis is placed on strengthening trust between organizations and affected populations through inclusive and responsive programming.

The training also focuses on programme quality assurance systems, including monitoring, evaluation, safeguarding, and complaint response mechanisms. Participants will learn how to integrate accountability measures into project design, implementation, and reporting structures for improved humanitarian outcomes.

In addition, the course addresses emerging issues such as digital accountability systems, data protection in humanitarian contexts, localization of accountability mechanisms, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).
