Introduction

Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) is critical to safeguarding the rights, safety, and well-being of children affected by crises. This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to design, manage, and implement effective CPiE programs in complex humanitarian settings.

Participants will explore the underlying causes and risks facing children in emergencies, including armed conflict, displacement, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks. Emphasis is placed on context-sensitive, evidence-based approaches to protect children from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.

The course integrates international standards, guidelines, and frameworks, such as the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, to ensure programs are aligned with global best practices and legal obligations.

Coordination and multi-sectoral collaboration are essential for effective CPiE. Participants will learn strategies for engaging communities, local authorities, NGOs, and UN agencies to implement child protection programs efficiently and inclusively.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning are central to improving child protection outcomes. Participants will gain skills to design indicators, assess program effectiveness, and adapt interventions to respond to emerging needs and risks.

Through case studies, practical exercises, and simulations, participants will develop competencies to implement robust CPiE strategies, strengthen organizational capacity, and ensure that children in emergencies receive the protection, care, and support they need.
