Introduction

This intensive course offers participants a thorough grounding in the principles, standards, and practical tools essential for protecting children in crisis situations. Drawing on real-world case studies, interactive simulations, and expert-led sessions, the course equips participants to design, implement, and manage child protection interventions that uphold the safety, dignity, and rights of children in emergencies.

The Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Course focuses on developing the skills needed to respond effectively to complex humanitarian crises including armed conflict, natural disasters, displacement, and public health emergencies where children are at heightened risk of abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence.

Emphasizing child-centered and context-specific approaches, the course enables participants to apply global standards such as the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPMS) while tailoring interventions to local realities and needs.

By the end of the training, participants will be prepared to respond rapidly and ethically in high-pressure environments, ensuring that children’s rights are respected, their well-being prioritized, and their protection needs met through coordinated and informed action.
