Introduction

This training course provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of carbon markets, climate finance mechanisms, and the legal structures that support climate action and low-carbon development. It equips participants with the regulatory and financial tools needed to navigate evolving climate policies.

Participants will examine compliance and voluntary carbon markets, emissions trading systems, carbon pricing instruments, and international mechanisms under the Paris Agreement. The course emphasizes the legal design, governance, and integrity of carbon markets across jurisdictions.

The program explores climate finance instruments including green bonds, blended finance, climate funds, and results-based financing. Participants will learn how legal frameworks shape access to capital, risk allocation, transparency, and accountability in climate investments.

Through real-world case studies, participants will analyze carbon credit project development, verification standards, and contractual arrangements. The course bridges legal, financial, and policy perspectives to support effective climate-aligned decision-making.

Emerging issues such as Article 6 implementation, carbon market integrity, nature-based solutions, and digital MRV systems are integrated to reflect current and future developments in global carbon markets and climate finance architecture.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to design, evaluate, and manage legally sound carbon market and climate finance initiatives that align with national climate commitments, ESG standards, and sustainable development objectives.
