Course Introduction
This advanced program provides a comprehensive framework for understanding, designing, and implementing National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) systems that support coordinated geospatial governance, data sharing, and national development planning across multiple sectors.
The course introduces foundational principles of spatial data infrastructure, including data standards, interoperability frameworks, metadata systems, and institutional arrangements required for effective geospatial governance at national and regional levels.
A strong emphasis is placed on policy development, legal frameworks, and governance structures that enable efficient management, accessibility, and integration of geospatial data across government agencies and public institutions.
Participants will explore how NSDI supports evidence-based decision-making by enabling seamless data exchange between ministries, local authorities, private sector actors, and international development organizations.
The program also addresses modern challenges such as data sovereignty, cybersecurity, ethical data use, and the integration of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, AI, and real-time geospatial systems into national infrastructure frameworks.
Ultimately, the course equips professionals with the knowledge and tools to design sustainable, scalable, and secure spatial data infrastructure systems that strengthen governance, improve public service delivery, and enhance national development outcomes
