Course Introduction

Biotechnology Communication and Public Understanding Training Course provides a strategic and practical framework for communicating biotechnology science, applications, opportunities, risks, and societal implications to diverse public and stakeholder audiences. The course examines how biotechnology organizations, research institutions, healthcare providers, governments, and industry leaders can translate complex scientific developments into accurate, accessible, and trustworthy communication that supports informed public understanding.

The course explores biotechnology across areas such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, agriculture, food production, industrial biotechnology, environmental applications, synthetic biology, genomics, and advanced research. Participants learn how to communicate scientific concepts, technological processes, evidence, benefits, limitations, uncertainties, and potential applications without oversimplifying important issues or creating unrealistic expectations about what biotechnology can achieve.

A central emphasis is placed on public trust and science literacy.
