Course Introduction
Biomass Energy Systems Course is designed to equip engineers, energy professionals, environmental specialists, project managers, utility personnel, researchers, and technical practitioners with comprehensive knowledge and practical competencies in the planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization of biomass energy systems. The course provides an in-depth understanding of biomass resources, conversion technologies, bioenergy production, power generation, waste-to-energy solutions, and sustainable resource management while emphasizing engineering principles that improve energy efficiency, environmental performance, and long-term project viability.
The growing demand for clean, renewable, and sustainable energy has positioned biomass as a critical component of global energy transition strategies. Agricultural residues, forestry by-products, municipal solid waste, industrial organic waste, and dedicated energy crops provide significant opportunities for producing electricity, heat, and biofuels while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting circular economy principles. This course enables participants to understand the technical, environmental, economic, and policy dimensions of biomass energy systems required to support sustainable energy development and resource utilization.
Participants will develop practical competencies in biomass resource assessment, feedstock characterization, combustion technologies, gasification, pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion, combined heat and power systems, biomass power plant operations, emissions management, and lifecycle performance evaluation.
