Course Introduction

Biofertilizers and biopesticides are key elements of sustainable agriculture, providing eco-friendly alternatives to chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to utilize microbial inoculants and biological control agents effectively, enhancing soil fertility, plant growth, and crop protection.

Participants will explore the science behind beneficial microorganisms and their roles in nutrient cycling, nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, and pest suppression. Emphasis is placed on understanding microbial interactions in the rhizosphere and their contribution to healthy, productive crops.

The course introduces different types of biofertilizers and biopesticides, including bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes, and plant-derived compounds. Participants will learn about production techniques, field application, and quality assurance for maximum effectiveness.

Integrated crop management strategies using biofertilizers and biopesticides are highlighted. Participants will learn to combine these inputs with cultural, mechanical, and minimal chemical practices to achieve high productivity sustainably.

Environmental, economic, and regulatory considerations are addressed. Participants will gain insights into safe usage, compliance with organic and certification standards, and the potential of bio-based inputs to reduce pollution and production costs.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and implement biofertilizer and biopesticide-based strategies that improve soil health, enhance crop resilience, and promote sustainable agriculture.
