Course Introduction

Agricultural supply chain and logistics management plays a critical role in ensuring that agricultural products move efficiently from farms to markets while maintaining quality, reducing losses, and maximizing value. This course provides participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills to manage agricultural supply chains effectively in both local and global contexts.

In today’s competitive and highly interconnected agricultural markets, inefficiencies in logistics and supply chains can significantly reduce profitability and food availability. This course equips participants with the tools to optimize transportation, storage, distribution, and coordination across agricultural value chains.

Participants will explore the structure and functioning of agricultural supply chains, including input supply, production systems, post-harvest handling, processing, distribution, and retailing. The course emphasizes integration of logistics systems to improve efficiency and reduce post-harvest losses.

The training also focuses on modern logistics management techniques such as inventory control, cold chain systems, warehouse management, and transportation planning. Participants will learn how to apply these tools to improve supply chain performance and market responsiveness.

Special emphasis is placed on digital transformation in agricultural logistics, including the use of tracking systems, data analytics, and smart logistics platforms. The course also addresses sustainability and climate resilience in supply chain systems.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to design, manage, and optimize agricultural supply chains and logistics systems that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve market access.
