Course Introduction

Agile planning and estimation require organizations to balance flexibility, speed, predictability, and business value without reverting to rigid planning models that limit responsiveness. The Agile Planning, Estimation and Delivery Performance Course develops advanced capabilities for planning iterative and incremental delivery, estimating work under uncertainty, managing changing priorities, and improving delivery confidence across projects, products, programs, and enterprise environments.

The course provides a comprehensive framework for translating strategic objectives, product visions, requirements, and stakeholder expectations into actionable backlogs, release plans, iteration objectives, delivery forecasts, and measurable outcomes. Participants examine advanced estimation approaches including relative sizing, story points, affinity estimation, planning poker, throughput-based forecasting, cycle-time analysis, probabilistic forecasting, Monte Carlo simulation, and evidence-based forecasting techniques.

A central focus is placed on delivery performance and the ability to convert operational delivery data into meaningful management intelligence. Participants learn how to analyze velocity, throughput, cycle time, lead time, work-in-progress, flow efficiency, predictability, capacity utilization, blocked work, dependency performance, and quality indicators. These measures are positioned within an integrated performance-management framework that supports realistic forecasting and timely executive decision-making.

The course also examines how artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies are transforming Agile planning and estimation. Participants explore generative AI, AI-assisted backlog analysis, intelligent estimation, predictive delivery forecasting, machine learning, natural-language processing, automated dependency identification, scenario modelling, and AI-supported planning recommendations. Emphasis is placed on using AI responsibly, validating algorithmic outputs, maintaining human oversight, and avoiding false precision when dealing with complex delivery uncertainty.

Participants will also explore planning and performance challenges associated with distributed Agile teams, hybrid delivery environments, multiple dependencies, changing priorities, technical debt, resource constraints, regulatory requirements, and cross-functional delivery. The course integrates practical approaches for connecting team-level planning with program and portfolio objectives while preserving Agile responsiveness, transparency, governance, and value-based prioritization.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to establish robust Agile planning systems, improve estimation reliability, strengthen delivery predictability, identify performance constraints, and create data-driven improvement cycles. The emphasis throughout is on practical application, enabling participants to transform planning and performance information into better decisions, stronger delivery outcomes, and continuously improving Agile delivery capability.
