Course Introduction

Climate change and environmental degradation are among the most urgent global challenges, requiring strong leadership that integrates science, diplomacy, and inclusive policy action. This program equips women leaders with advanced competencies in environmental governance and climate diplomacy.

The course explores how environmental policy is shaped at local, national, and global levels, and how women leaders can influence negotiations, treaties, and sustainability frameworks that drive meaningful climate action and resilience.

A strong emphasis is placed on climate diplomacy, international environmental agreements, and negotiation strategies within multilateral platforms such as the UNFCCC, COP processes, and regional environmental governance structures.

Participants will examine real-world case studies on climate justice, adaptation financing, carbon markets, and biodiversity protection, highlighting the critical role of women in advancing sustainable environmental solutions.

The program also addresses barriers to women’s participation in environmental decision-making, including structural inequality, limited representation in diplomacy, and access to climate finance and technical expertise.

Ultimately, this course prepares women leaders to shape global environmental policy agendas and lead transformative climate diplomacy initiatives that promote sustainability, equity, and resilience.
