Course Introduction

The Advanced Water Infrastructure Program Planning and Evaluation Course is designed to equip professionals with advanced skills in planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating water infrastructure programs. It focuses on strengthening program effectiveness, accountability, and sustainability in water sector investments and development initiatives.

Water infrastructure programs are increasingly complex due to rising demand, climate change impacts, funding limitations, and institutional inefficiencies. This course provides structured approaches for improving program design, strengthening implementation capacity, and ensuring that infrastructure investments deliver measurable and sustainable results.

A key focus of the course is program planning frameworks that integrate technical, financial, environmental, and social considerations. Participants will learn how to develop robust infrastructure programs that align with national priorities, donor requirements, and long-term water sector development goals.

The course also emphasizes program evaluation methodologies, enabling participants to assess effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability of water infrastructure investments. This ensures that programs are continuously improved based on evidence, performance data, and stakeholder feedback.

In addition, the course integrates modern tools such as results-based management systems, logical framework approaches, and data-driven monitoring systems. These tools help participants design adaptive infrastructure programs that respond to evolving sector challenges and priorities.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, implement, and evaluate water infrastructure programs effectively, ensuring improved performance, accountability, and long-term sustainability of water sector investments.
