Introduction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) continue to affect individuals, families, and communities across conflict, disaster, health, and social care contexts. This advanced course provides in-depth knowledge and practical competencies for understanding trauma responses, complex PTSD, and the neurobiological foundations that shape trauma-related behaviors and recovery pathways.
The course is designed to equip mental health and psychosocial professionals with advanced, evidence-based trauma therapy approaches that address both acute and chronic trauma. Participants explore how trauma manifests across the lifespan and how therapeutic interventions can be adapted to cultural, social, and contextual realities while maintaining clinical rigor and ethical standards.
Participants will engage deeply with contemporary trauma treatment models, including cognitive, somatic, narrative, and integrative approaches. Emphasis is placed on moving beyond symptom management toward long-term stabilization, emotional regulation, meaning-making, and post-traumatic growth for individuals experiencing severe and repeated trauma.
Recognizing that trauma rarely exists in isolation, the course addresses co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, substance use, and dissociation. Learners will develop competencies to conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments and create individualized treatment plans that respond to layered and complex clinical presentations.
The training also examines trauma within broader systems, including families, communities, humanitarian settings, and institutions. Participants will learn how trauma-informed care principles can be embedded into service delivery models to reduce re-traumatization, enhance safety, and strengthen therapeutic alliances across diverse professional environments.
By the end of the course, participants will have advanced practical skills to deliver ethical, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed therapy interventions. The program empowers professionals to manage PTSD effectively, support recovery and resilience, and contribute to sustainable mental health and psychosocial care systems in high-impact settings.
