Course Introduction

Infrastructure projects represent some of the most complex and capital-intensive investments undertaken by governments, development agencies, and private sector organizations. The Advanced Infrastructure Project Risk and Performance Audit Course is designed to equip professionals with the expertise required to evaluate project risks, assess performance outcomes, and ensure accountability across large-scale infrastructure developments.

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure project lifecycles, including planning, design, procurement, execution, monitoring, and completion phases. Participants will explore how cost overruns, delays, poor planning, and weak governance structures contribute to project failure and reduced value for money in infrastructure investments.

As infrastructure projects increasingly involve public-private partnerships, multinational contractors, and complex financing arrangements, new risks are emerging related to contract management, funding structures, environmental compliance, and stakeholder coordination. This course addresses these challenges by equipping participants with advanced tools to assess and audit infrastructure project risks effectively.

A strong emphasis is placed on performance auditing, focusing on evaluating efficiency, effectiveness, and economy in infrastructure delivery. Participants will learn how to measure project outcomes against intended objectives, identify performance gaps, and assess whether infrastructure investments deliver sustainable public value.

The course also examines governance, procurement integrity, and financial management in infrastructure projects. Participants will gain insights into contract administration, procurement fraud risks, payment verification systems, and quality assurance mechanisms that ensure infrastructure projects meet required standards and specifications.

By the end of the course, participants will be fully equipped to conduct advanced infrastructure project risk and performance audits that enhance accountability, improve project outcomes, and ensure optimal use of public and private sector investments in infrastructure development.
