Course Introduction

The Advanced Gender Mainstreaming, Equality and Social Inclusion Leadership Course is an intensive professional development programme designed to equip leaders, policymakers, development practitioners, and programme managers with advanced knowledge and practical skills for integrating gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) into organizational policies, programmes, budgets, and institutional systems. Participants will gain strategic approaches for promoting equitable development, inclusive leadership, and sustainable organizational transformation across public, private, and development sectors.

As governments, development agencies, NGOs, UN organizations, and private institutions increasingly prioritize inclusive development, there is growing demand for leaders capable of designing and implementing gender-responsive policies and programmes. This course provides practical tools for institutionalizing gender mainstreaming, addressing structural inequalities, promoting diversity and inclusion, and strengthening accountability mechanisms that ensure no one is left behind in development planning and service delivery.

Participants will develop competencies in gender analysis, equality legislation, inclusive policy development, gender-responsive budgeting, safeguarding, disability inclusion, intersectionality, leadership for organizational change, monitoring and evaluation, and evidence-based decision-making. Through practical case studies, policy reviews, simulations, and collaborative learning, participants will strengthen their ability to lead organizational reforms that improve equity, participation, and social justice outcomes.

The programme also explores emerging issues shaping gender equality and social inclusion, including digital inclusion, artificial intelligence and gender bias, climate justice, women’s economic empowerment, inclusive governance, ESG integration, workplace diversity, prevention of gender-based violence, youth inclusion, and inclusive humanitarian action. Participants will examine international frameworks and global best practices that support transformative leadership and sustainable development.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be equipped to lead organizational change, strengthen institutional capacity, develop gender-responsive programmes, enhance inclusive governance, and improve monitoring and accountability systems. They will return to their organizations with practical action plans that foster equality, social inclusion, organizational resilience, and measurable development impact while advancing national and global development priorities.
