Course Introduction

Gender impact assessment and evaluation are essential tools for measuring how policies, programs, and projects affect women, men, and marginalized groups differently. This course provides advanced knowledge and practical skills for assessing gendered outcomes and ensuring that interventions promote equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Many development initiatives fail to adequately measure gender impacts, leading to unintended inequalities or missed opportunities for transformation. This course addresses this gap by equipping participants with robust methodologies for designing, conducting, and interpreting gender impact assessments across sectors.

Participants will explore advanced evaluation frameworks, including results-based monitoring, theory of change, and gender-responsive evaluation methodologies. The course emphasizes evidence generation and the use of data to improve program effectiveness and accountability in gender programming.

A strong focus is placed on integrating gender impact assessment into project cycles, from design to implementation and evaluation. Participants will learn how to identify gender-sensitive indicators, collect disaggregated data, and analyze outcomes in ways that inform decision-making and policy reform.

The course also examines emerging issues such as intersectionality, climate change impacts, digital transformation, and crisis contexts. These factors are increasingly shaping gender outcomes and require sophisticated analytical approaches to evaluation and assessment.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to independently design and implement gender impact assessments that generate actionable insights, improve program performance, and contribute to sustainable gender equality outcomes.
