Introduction

Gender equality, protection, and prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) are critical pillars in development contexts. This course provides participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills to design, implement, and evaluate gender-sensitive programs that safeguard vulnerable populations.

Participants will explore frameworks for mainstreaming gender in development initiatives, emphasizing the integration of GBV prevention, response, and protection strategies into sectoral programming. The course strengthens the capacity to address systemic inequalities and power dynamics that affect marginalized communities.

The training emphasizes evidence-based approaches for identifying risks and vulnerabilities. Learners will gain expertise in using qualitative and quantitative tools to assess GBV trends, protection needs, and gender disparities, enabling informed decision-making and program design.

Collaboration and coordination are essential for effective protection programming. Participants will learn how to engage government agencies, NGOs, UN bodies, and community-based organizations to ensure harmonized interventions that are culturally sensitive and contextually relevant.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning are key to sustaining impact. The course introduces participants to tools and frameworks for tracking protection outcomes, measuring the effectiveness of gender and GBV interventions, and incorporating lessons learned to continuously improve programming.

Through case studies, scenario exercises, and practical simulations, participants will leave the course equipped to lead comprehensive gender, GBV, and protection programming initiatives. They will be prepared to foster safer, more equitable environments in development contexts.
