Introduction

Food security, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods are critical components of development and humanitarian programming. This course equips participants with advanced skills to design, implement, and evaluate programs that ensure access to nutritious food, strengthen resilience, and enhance community livelihoods.

Participants will explore the complex interconnections between food systems, nutritional outcomes, and income-generating activities. Emphasis is placed on integrating multi-sectoral approaches that address immediate needs while promoting long-term sustainability.

The course emphasizes evidence-based planning and program design. Learners will gain practical expertise in needs assessments, vulnerability mapping, and data analysis to inform interventions that target food insecurity and malnutrition effectively.

Nutrition programming is central to improving health outcomes. Participants will learn to design and implement interventions across maternal, infant, and child nutrition, micronutrient supplementation, and school feeding programs, while integrating behavior change communication strategies.

Livelihoods strengthening is essential for sustainable development. The course explores income-generating activities, skills development, market access strategies, and resilience-building initiatives to help communities achieve self-reliance and reduce dependency on aid.

Through case studies, simulation exercises, and peer-to-peer learning, participants will develop actionable skills to implement integrated food security, nutrition, and livelihoods programs. Graduates will be equipped to lead interventions that improve food access, nutrition outcomes, and economic resilience.
