Introduction
Accounting Information Systems (AIS) are the backbone of modern financial management, providing real-time data, supporting decision-making, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Proper governance and controls are essential to safeguard assets, maintain data integrity, and prevent fraud or misreporting.
This course provides participants with a detailed understanding of AIS design, governance frameworks, and internal controls. Emphasis is placed on aligning information systems with organizational objectives, regulatory standards, and international accounting principles for accurate and reliable financial reporting.
Participants will explore how system architecture, access controls, segregation of duties, and audit trails contribute to robust governance. The course highlights strategies to mitigate risks related to unauthorized access, cyber threats, and system failures that could compromise financial data integrity.
The training addresses compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, including IFRS, SOX, data protection, and IT governance standards such as COBIT. Participants will learn how to develop policies, procedures, and controls that support ethical, accurate, and accountable financial operations.
Through practical exercises, case studies, and system evaluation frameworks, participants will gain skills to assess AIS effectiveness, detect weaknesses, and implement remediation strategies. The course emphasizes continuous monitoring, risk assessment, and process improvement for optimal financial information governance.
Designed for finance professionals, auditors, IT managers, and governance officers, this course equips participants to strengthen accounting system reliability, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance overall financial control and organizational accountability.
